Spring Lace Slip Dress

Oh hey there!  I can't believe it's here! Is this happening?! My first blog post... eek! After months of anticipation, creating and planning, it's go time!

I'm so excited I get to share my love for fashion with you! Ever since I was a little girl I've been obsessed with clothes. My earliest memories are of my abuelita (grandma) who used to sew dresses for me. I would just stand there, watch and pace back and forth waiting for her creation to come off the machine.  It was exciting and addicting getting a new dress and then parading around in it. I never wanted to take them off. During those times we were lucky if we had electricity or even food in our refrigerator.  When my abuelita would make me those dresses it gave me a feeling that there were beautiful things in the world and this life was only temporary.

By the time I was in middle school my mom was a single mom.  We barely scrimped by and gone were the homemade dresses.  I often had to wear my brothers clothes to school resulting in a lot of bullying and teasing.  Man kids can be rough can't they?  I would lay in bed at night and pretend my closets were stacked and dream of the day when I would never-ever have to wear boys corduroys again.

Which brings me back to this post.  How relevant is it that I'm throwing it back to the 70's? Mixing in old with the new?  Past with present?  Life is great and sitting here writing this blog I can see those corduroys and am envisioning ways to turn them into cut off shorts and which handbag I'd style them with! The 11 year old girl from Boone Elementary will always have so much love and appreciation for every single stitch on every piece of garment she wears!

  1. Anita, you have come so far from your brother's corduroy pants, to fashion and style some of us could only dream of. Your past is what has made you who you are today, and today is what will shape your future. You're an inspiration to me and so many others. Take this fashion world by storm and make it everything you've dreamed it would be! So proud of you and fortunate to be your friend. Loves! Laurie
